Kidding...sorry. It's usually around 15.5 combined and has never been above 22 even on prolonged highway driving.

OK, for those of you who don't want to believe that I got 25 mpgs, I checked, and I must admit that I was wrong. I apologize for misleading anyone.

My actual MPGs are HIGHER than 25. In fact, they are over 26!

I have not reset my computer since I got the car. I bought it used, and I have put about 3k miles on it, of which appx. 800 have been hwy. My avg speed is 37 mph.

That is amazing! are you sure you bought a 545 and not a 520i?

I'm getting about 16-18 when the car hasn't warmed up, but on longer city trips it's hitting about 19. On the highway, I see 25-26. I've got about 2k miles.

If it's like my past BMWs, I'm expecting a 2 mpg boost when the weather gets warm.

Just about same ride as iversonm and close to same mileage. I have a heavy foot now and then.

My last ten fill-ups saw an average of 17.7 mpg. Total is 6700 miles now, new in late July.

Not so sure about my warm weather boost ... my foot gets heavier in warm weather!

I have an 07 with 18k on the clock

I have not reset my mileage computer for around 10,000 miles. I average 85% city driving between 35 and 45 mph. The rest is highway driving at 60-70 mph. From time to time I have some fun with the go pedal. The computer was showing my mpg at 19.9 for months and it just moved to 19.7 this week. I have a 6 speed manual and there may be a diference with step.

Note to all: When posting your MPG, please also post the Average MPH from your computer. Estimating city vs highway is very subjective not to mention that city driving in Dallas is wholly different from city driving in NYC.

For the record, at 17k miles, my 06 550i-6spd averages 13.5 MPG at 21 average MPH.

I have 11500 miles on my car and I am averageing 23MPG with average speed of 41MPH, I drive about 50/50. On the highway at 75MPH I consistantly get 29MPG and in the city or traffic I average 19MPG. I also have a very heavy foot, I must be lucky with these numbers.

On my MY04 545 (20103 miles) with about 50/50 highway/city I average around 20mpg. If I do mostly in town I get around 17-18mpg.

I can see the frustrations because I bought my wife a my07 4.8 X5 and the sticker states that it is rated +1mpg (city and highway) better than my old my02 4.4 so I figured I would get about the same if not better since it has the 6spd. I have 5k on the clock and she only averages 13mpg which seems really low compared to the 4.4 which averaged 16mpg. The same route is driven every day and the driving style has not changed either. I have done some 300+ milers w/ all highway driving averaging around 75-85 and I only get like 18(4.8) when the 4.4 averaged 21. I am hoping that the engine will loosen up with some miles on the clock but I was still shocked at what I am getting. So your complaints about mpg may not be isolated to 5-series
