I've had the car for 5 months now and notice a noise when I turn left or right sometimes. Sounds like something is rubbing under the car. I don't know what it is, but was wondering if anyone else had this problem. I'm getting ready to take it in.

Another thing is the support arm above the driver side door rattles and the damn light dome on the ceiling rattles in the back. I expected more buying this car but hopefully they'll fix it.

Really concerned wtih the wierd noise from turning. It doesn't always happen and I never pin the wheel.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

6500 miles on my 550i. My only issue was a fuel filler vapor sensor that kept throwing a check engine light and was replaced. My only rattle is in the cup holder if used. I don't have any noises when turning sharply.

Read once about 'bump stops' (not sure if that's the correct name.) that are placed in the springs to limit suspension travel during shipping, are sometimes left in place by accident, and will cause some sort of noise if not removed........but I'm not very sure of the story, maybe there are others who know more.

I've had my 2008 for 11 months now and put 18K on it; the only noise is the cup holder (same as Richard in NC) Have the dealer check it out; good luck brotha!!!

One other thought - there are hydraulic pumps that drive active roll stabilization, and these are of course only working during cornering and I know from my 550 that they can be noisy. The noise from these pumps in operation does sound a little like a rubbing noise, and it is most noticeable under reasonably low speed corners. Even at low speeds ARS is still working to keep the car flat but other road and engine isn't sufficient to suppress the noise of the pumps. Assuming your 550 has the sport package (and thus ARS) I wonder if it could be this hydraulic pump noise that you are hearing?

I noticed, some times when I don't use it for many days and it's cold (autumn or winter), a sort of rub from the rear seats . But after 5 minutes of use it disappears .

Thanks for all the information out there.

I'm going to set up a service visit and have them check it out. It may be the pumps that I hear then, because it's at low speeds only.

The rattling is something else though. Gotta defintely get that fixed.

Thanks again fellas!

My 19's resonate at very low speeds when turning, like in parking lots and goes away immediately once straight. It sounds like a resonating hum (G minor, I think ) as I start to turn. It started after approx. 3000 miles on my 19's. It doesn't happen with my 17's, but my 19's have some heel-toe, saw-tooth wear in them, which could be the cause. And in my case, it's not pumps I am hearing. Keep us posted after your service appt.
