Default 550i injectors cleaning or replacement

Morning gents,

I'm thinking about cleaning the injectors or maybe even replacing them. Seems like a doable job. Car has 178.000 km's. Any advice on the injector brand?....Or just oem?

thx in advance

Is something wrong with them. Have you put cleaner in the tank? Siemens is the OEM and the only ones I would go with. They have companies on eBay that sells them rebuilt already for a fair price

Hello Sean,....I've ran 25.000 with it. What happened in the first 150.000 I don't know. It was dealer maintenained however. I understood that cleaners in the fuel doesn't really help as it can even hurt the intake. Engine is running fine. Fuel milage is about 1 liter every 8.5 km's and Im a moderate driver generally. Just looking for things to improve. as I want to run this car a long as I can.

I've never heard of a cleaner hurting the intake. Some expect cleaners to perform miracles and don't realize they are for preventing issues not correcting issues. Now there are many out there that do nothing. I run cleaners in all my vehicles and not once had an issue. I use LM Jectron once a month and Red Line SL1 once a year. I have 1 car bought new that is 17 years old, one 19 years old, another 8 years old and a 17 X6 50i that I have ran that regiment on. Not once have I had an injector issue. 2 of those cars now are over 200k. I don't think it's necessary to change injector unless they are an issue. I would say just maintain them because you'll have more issues to worry about in the future. I would also say since you own a 550i keep a couple on stand by because the failure rate is high on those cars.
