I installed the Dinan cold air intake and throttle body, but did not notice any abnormal idling or stalling. The computers do adjust to changes, so I can see that being a possibility.
The one thing I was always concerned about when I had K&N filters is the possibility of too much oil getting on to the air sensor. Could this be the problem?

Actually, I did not use any oil on the filter for the first year (my mistake). I recently learned that I needed oil after I recently cleaned the filter with a recharger kit. The stalling actually got much better, but I still stall a bit. In three more weeks, I am sure the problem will go away.

Mel is keeping US in check??
She's modding just like the rest of us!
Also I live in a house of only females, and I'm yet to see a "sensible card" ANYWHERE around my house!!
In direct contrast to Mel around here, at my house, I'm an island of testosterone in a vast sea of estrogen!! ![Cool](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/cool.gif)

I'm thinking the stalling may be a coincidental issue for a couple of folks. Numerous members have taken those things off without incident. Mines been off for well over half a year with no problems. I'm now running an AFE CAI without fail (and NO charcoal filter lol).

The charcoal filter is not the filter for interior or cabin air. It's put there as part of the evaporative emissions system, I believe.

wow just removed it and took my 06 550i for spin and I could tell the difference. This won't void the warranty will it? By the way my charcoal filter didn't have any metal clips...looks like I had to brake some plastic to get it out.

When changing/replacing the air intake filter(s), keep in mind that the durability of the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF-S) is depending on the cleanliness of the intake air.
Oil drops and similar contamination can kill or degrade the MAFS.
