I have not tried it. I've been an advocate against it since I joined and started discussing such things on this forum (which admittedly wasn't that long ago). Not sure why exactly except it just doesn't seem right to me, for all the reasons I've previously stated.
Oh well, maybe someday I'll actually run into someone who has it and I'll try it and LOVE it.
Good luck OP! I think the lag is just the lag, not much you can do about it unless you or your friend upgrade to an M3 or M5.

I personally got rid of mine and I feel like its more fun driving the car without it now - because I know what the car is capable of. What I really hated about the v.1 SB I had was that flat spot in the pedal that it created on my 530. If the new switchable version takes care of that, is switchable on the fly and can be set up to have a remote switch built into the OEM IP, I'll probably buy it again and hardwire it into my car.

"dude, that's just wrong": why is that wrong? I'm giving the OP another side of the story, more info to base his decision on, and that's it. Doesn't he deserve, or anyone that reads this thread in the future deserve, to hear another side of this?
No, I didn't try it precisely because of the information I've read about it. Some of you did, and you love it. Good for you! I don't particularly care to loose the upper third of my pedal movment just to get that 30% in the bottom two thirds - I'll adjust via my foot.
Isn't this forum a place to discuss and inform and research so that memebers can make "informed" decisions? who the hell says that to be informed you have to have "tried it"? that's ridiculous!
Let me ask you this, have any of you ever tried mixing cholrine bleach and amonia in a bowl and smelling the resulting gases the mixture emits? NO! Why not? But did you actually try it? No, I mean "actually try it"? Then how do you know? Because of research and documented evidence that tells you it will kill you, right? (for those that don't know, for whatever reason, Do NOT try this, it will kill you)
I get it that this is totally different and some of you are sincerely just telling me to try it, you might like it. I appreciate that. But to say "dude, that's just wrong" is simply juvenile.
Ok, you all win, I give up. OP, go by a sprint booster. Hell, by two of them and hook them up in a row - you'll get like an exponential increase in throttle response. YOu won't even need to press the pedal more than about 1/2 an inch to max it! No more lag there.

Objectively the SB does not increase performance, I think we all can agree to that. But subjectively it does change one's driving experience (i.e. "lag"). The problem with subjective measurements is that there is a lack of valid tools to correctly quantify them, unlike an objective measure like a 1/4 mile run time (or mixing different chemicals). Subjective measures may not hold it's worth like an objective measure, but as stated before, it's worth a try...

Very well put.
I believe what most people are getting at is if a opinion is based on someone else's opinion rather than a personal experience then the tone one uses should be tempered a bit. Two opinions do not a fact make...

imo, one of the better uses of a forum is to help others. much of that help comes from experience, and many people here are incredibly helpful -- they guide the rest of us. from my own perspective, experience takes many forms: learning/reading, first hand, mentoring, etc., and while i concur you're entitled to a pov, i was attempting to point out that your strong opinion had no strong basis of fact, which in this example (only), boiled down to simply that: an opinion.
i agree my first statement was too short, and could've appeared adolecent. hopefully, the above elaboration is clearer.
lastly, i for one don't want you to give up on this or any forum issue. i've read several of your statements and have enjoyed and appreciated your perspective.

Agreed.
Very civil discussion and I appreciate that you all kept it that way. I expected nothing less honestly, which is why this can be such a great place for info and discussion.
For those that care to remember, my "New Member Intro" mentions my skepticism AND I've been involved in a few other threads over the time I've been actively engaged on this forum about this very subject, so it's not a new or spur of the moment comment that I originally made in this thread about SB's.
I have to find someone near me that has one and test it out. You guys are starting to convince me!
