550i coolant leak detected, your expert advise?
I remember when my water pump and thermostat went out, it didn't take much for the tank to go out shortly thereafter. The tiniest of leak is all it takes to cause a big problem.

New BMW part arrived.

Re-using the cap
how to paint a betta fish
Replacement completed, did not loose much of the coolant, added to normal level, drove few miles and no leaks detected.
Old does not appear to be BMW original, not sure if this was from factory?

Few months ago the top level indicator broke-fell inside the tank (about 1" long)

Wanted to check if still inside and also see the inside construction, cut the old tank

The piece that broke nowhere to be found in the tank, it traveled in the system via the bottom hose, as the plastic is very brittle due to age and high temps I'm sure that got shattered, or should this be of any concern that might be blocking any inside cooling channels?
