What kind of gas mileage and range per tank are the new 550 owners getting?

Not much range.
My normal tank is consumed in mostly city driving (85%) with some highway too (15%), so I average about 15-16 mpg. I'm back at the gas station in a little more than 250 miles with the "reserve" light warning just on. Lame.
On a couple of longer trips with mostly highway miles I averaged about 23-24 mpg, so I was getting a range of about 375 miles.
This is one key difference from my 2001 740. While I now get about 2 mpg better city mileage and 3-4 mpg better highway mileage, the 740 had a huge 22.5 gallon tank ... so I could hit over 425 miles on a highway trip.
Oh, well. This is the price you pay for such a great performer ... and I woudn't have it any other way.

My first tank of gas which included a 185 mile drive home (90% interstate at 75 mph) from the dealer averaged only 15.5 mpg. Since then I have averaged 19-20 mpg with an even split between hwy and city. Now have 700 miles on the car.
I have 1600 miles on the car and drive about 70 to 75% city and the rest on hwy. I'm averaging about 300 miles for the full tank. I have not taken it for a long ride but my best consumption was 330 miles for the full tank and my worst have been 280 miles for the full tank and i think its been because of my inspirited driving
to the note, those ar ethe same ranges I was getting with my former 530 E60..
this new engine and its valvetronic are awesome

this new engine and its valvetronic are awesome I have to say do more around town driving than highway. I still get about 19.2-21.8 MPG with a 04 545. I also have a lead foot in tight spots, or what I believe to be tight. Like old people driving too slow. In any case, I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised at the gas consumption I have experienced with this car.

That's very good mileage. My foot must be too heavy even when I am trying for good mileage. Do you drive mostly in D or in DS/M? What color is your car? I'll look for you.

I have an orient blue beauty. I drive mixed all around. I do equal time in DS/D/M. It doesn't hurt that I work 5 miles from my home. Which accounts for 80% of my daily commute.
