Anyone experience this? Since I've owned the car, when I would start it, 9 out of 10 times the brake pedal was rock hard while hitting the start button.....hot or cold starts. I took it in to get looked at, because it was never consistant, and they said the vacuum pump was bad, and they replaced it. That seemed to remedy the problem for about a week, then it started up again. This time it only does it after the car has sat overnight on the first cold crank of the day. I took it back to the dealer...and of course I get the typical "can not duplicate" even though they had it for 6 days  They said there were no fault codes either. It may come down to me dropping it off on a Sunday night, and coming back on Monday morning after it's sat overnight, and see if it'll do it, then grab a tech so they can see.
Anyone know what else it could be?

known issue, just need to replace a vacuum line or something, my SA and shop foreman knew exactly what i was talking about when i described the issue...usually happens on extreme weather conditions..hot or cold..I tried to get mine replaced last time I was in, but the part was on back order...i will try again at my next service...

as always...the search button will definitely get you a few threads on this topic...

Don't happen to know what the part was do you? It's been cold......30's after i got the vac pump replaced.....when i took the car back it was in the 70's the whole time, so i'm guessing thats why they couldn't duplicate the prob?

Took the car back in for the same thing, because it's to the point where it's almost impossible to push the brake pedal in far enough to crank the car. I really have to put some weight into it! It was doing it after it sat several hrs overnight before, and now it only takes 3-4 hrs to harden up. They replaced the brake booster the first time I took it in.......but the last time, and now this time they are saying this is normal as they compared it to another '06 550 for reference. My question to the SA was how do you know that the other '06 doesn't have the same problem, and why they didn't compare it to a new 550. He came back with......"thats a good idea", and is going to have the shop foreman do this Monday morning.
For the people who had this problem......do you know what was replaced? I shouldn't have to tell the SA what to check out....but apparently they need something to go off of, as they seem clueless
