Well, since I'm only envious about your V8 discussions, compared with my 525iA,
I feel that your discussion needs a conclusion.
There must be a way that some mag or something brings brightness into your despute.
When I get into Need For Speed, I drive a bike!
0 - 100 km/h in 2-3 secs is no problem.

My Ride: MY05 545i Jet Black with Auburn interior. SMG, Logic7, Sport Package, Comfort Seats, Navigation.
I am driving a 750li as of today. From what I can tell (butt-o-meter), the 4.8L engine is a bit smoother than my 545i. However, due to 750Li's extra 300 pound, I still feel my 545i is a bit livelier. I don't know about 550i though, perhaps its much faster than 750.

Check out the thread I linked above--at post #16. Still, I am not quite sure what you mean. What we are saying is based on mag results and published BMW predictions. I don't really think we are disputing; just trying to calculate something. ????
Since I'm really interested in fast vehicles (cars, bikes, boats, snowmobiles, airplanes)
I just thaugh that a proper split second E60 test could be nice.
I have contacted some people I know and let's see if we can arrange a E60 dragrace.
Knowing the facts overhere it is next to impossible, but I will try.
I just love to try to do the impossible - sometimes you win, sometimes you loose...

Come on people, what kind of useless discussion is this.
Acceleration times are pure indications of the capabilities of a car. If your 550 goes to 100 (km) in 5.4, mine might do it in 5.2, or visa versa.
It has to do with the driver, the whether, humidity wheel/tire combination of the car.
And besides that, the 0-100 acceleration is not the only thing that indicates a car's performance. So if the 550 is only 0.2 seconds faster than a 545 doesnt mean that the difference is small. Above 100km the difference will probably increase.
I'm a new member here by the way, pictures of my car will follow this week. I drive a 2006 525 E61 and just traded in my 2003 M3 E46. Hell of a difference but i love the E61 aswell.
Regards

I've been reminiscing. Check out post 10. Given the current US magazine results, who is the grand predictor around here?

Anyways, for us split seconds guys, the 550i will generally be about .2-.4 seconds faster than the 545i depending on how good the start, or launch is. All in all, the 550i will be about 1/2 to 1 car's length of the 545i around the 1/4 mile. That's were your extra 35 HP will become apparent.
On the street, it's a driver's race between a 545i and a 550i. On the street, it's the driver's race no matter what car you drive. If you don't believe me, I once beat a MB CL55 in a Toyota Camry at 80+ mph. How? I knew the maze (traffic). He had the speed, I had the knowledge.

Yep, we discussed 0 to 60 times for the two cars before, and ithey probably will be discussed again. As said, I am reminiscing and pointing out who the virtually right-on prognosticator was. My predictions were almost exactly the same as the 0 to 60's for the manual and the Step reported by the mags to date. And, we've already discussed all that other stuff you mention too. Note that the G-meter results to date don't support your perspective on which car is faster--the 545i or the 550i--although the mags tend to do so. And, right, I can beat any car if the other car forgets or doesn't know how to go fast. But, this observation says nothing about which car is faster. And, why wouldn't I believe you about such an obvious truth?
