well heres what happened me in the 545ia and some kid in the m3 e46 we were going at it in light traffic so we got to the light i had my window open i power braked light turned green i let the brakes go and hit the gas and let go b/c he dint go a sec later he went and then i went right after him and 1st gear we were neck to neck my 2nd i started gaining on him and 3 rd started gaining on him and then went on 4th grear i was stil in front of him i hit about 125mph and then i hit the brakes to stop the m3 past me with scriching tires and went right through the light. the next light i saw him he opened his window and said is it stick or auto i said auto he said fast car and blow the light and turned



thats was the 1st m3 i raced


the second


i power braked light turned 1st 2nd and 3rd i was in front of him up to about 90 mph and he stoped for the turn and after the turn he turned off spinin his tires




from what i can say the 1st one i race he knew what he was doing he knew how to drive the m3 but i beat him the 2nd i think he was a amuture that got mad that got spanked my a 4door sadan

and why does the car go to 156mph but bmw says that its gov at 150mph i dont get that



1 more think did any1 get that recall on there 545's b/c i did and the car was fine i bring it to then they fixed what ever they had to fix and now my car stoled 2 on me 1st time i started it and it shut of the 2nd i started it and put in drive and then shut off i comed them up they say if the car turns back on its not what we were looking for thats not what the prob is ????????????????????????????????????????

The speedlimiter is set to 250Km/h.
1 mile = 1.6 Km
250Km = 156,25 miles

You should be able to reach 160, because the usual BMW tach shows a little more than you are actually driving...
On the 545's over here you reach 257/258, even though you are only driving REAL 250 Km/h.

 

You should post this story on Bimmerforums 'Kill Stories'. A lot of people will be suprised you 'killed' a couple E46 M3's!

Gearing for the 545i is (1st)4.06:1 / (2nd)2.40:1 and the Final drive ratio 2.90:1 the gearing for the M3 is (1st) 4.23:1 / (2nd)2.53:1 and the final gear ration is 3.64:1. Advantage M3.
It is conceivable that a 545i would out accelerate an M3 convertible. Also, on the street, driver ability would influence even identical cars significantly.
