Ok, given the "huge" performance jump according to some, who's gonna trade in their 545i for a 550i if not now in a few years?

I'm probably going to wait and see what the differences are (based primarily on owner feedback here) but more likely than not will indeed replace the 545 with the 550 in a year or two. I don't anticipate the differences being enough to warrant a switch in the short term - we might also have the diesels over in the US in a year or two and if so they would be on the shortlist as well.

I definitely will keep mine for, say, 3 years. Also, I don't like first year cars even if they are BMWs. I have added a B&B exhaust and a Dinan throttle body. Given the weight savings of the B&B, I have added the equivalent of about 20 RWHP (about 24 diluted HP)--which ought to be close to the equal of the 550i's 360 diluted HP. Dinan is supposed to have a cold air intake, programming, and maybe a MAF out at the end of Sept. (we'll see). I plan to do all, but will do at least the intake. I will take the intake and exhaust off when disposing of my car if I can't get enough for it with these items on. I don't expect the 550i to be more than .3 secs. faster in the 1/4 regardless of what has been said otherwise.

Not because of the performance improvement (although it's a plus) but I will give my wife the 545i (she wants the comfort seats anyway) and I'll dump her 330Ci and get myself a 2007 550i. Maybe. I also want a 2006 Corvette Z06, and Porsche 911 Carrera 4S,...

It's a sickness with no cure.

When my CPO warranty runs out in 2009, I'd like to pick up a CPO 2007 M5 w/manual trans. That's the plan. Just need to figure out how to pay for it.

After you pay for wedding and a house, you're be broke for the rest of your life .

A few karat diamond ring already pushes you toward bankrupcy. A wife and a house is a debt from your previous life
No way for M3, mate! J/K.

That's sound a very good plan to me. Your and your wife's income will make your life better (or worst? ). Buy a house and start investing. Once you get residual income from your investment, that'll be your M3.
