545i vs 535i? which one will be less problematic

im wanting to get a 535i and say so long to my 545i. probs after problems for this car, coolant leaks, oil seals misfires etc, all the notorious mis haps for this vehicle is happening haha. getting tired of constantly fixing. so what are some known probs for the 535i? just wondering.

Only problems the 535i is notoriously known for is the HPFP and other components related to it which don't malfunction as often such as fuel injectors.
For many the HPFP is reason enough to stay away from any 35i model regardless of what series it is.
This coming from someone who has gotten the HPFP on his 535i replaced 2 times going on 3 (noticing it acting up again) in the past 2 years.
However, I still love the car and have only kept it because of the 10 year warranty extension BMW has placed on the HPFP and also the fact that huge HP gains can be achieved by throwing a piggy back and a few other inexpensive mods to the engine.
Oh and the fact that you can tell people your car is a Twin Turbo, I mean c'mon how cool does that sound.

My Ride: 2008 535xi
+1 from another 535xi owner. If you were going the used vehicle route, any 535i out there would have had it's HPFP changed a few times already (as was in my case). Chances are you might get lucky and would not have to deal with the HPFP issue at all. Even if you do, its covered for 10 years.

My Ride: 545i
If I was looking for a car I would get a 550 or a 530 or 528, the 335 or 535's are nice but the main issue is he HPFP which could go at any given time with out any warning, which could cause you major grief.
The problem is that BMW put smaller injectors which puts more pressure on the HPFP causing it to fail. What a lot of people are doing is installing bigger injectors which apparently fixed the problem. Also the turbos don't provide much horsepower unless you modify it, I heard the turbos provide max 30-40 HP and that's it. if you modify the computer, you can easily get 400hp.
Again, I think a naturally aspirated engine is less headaches in the long run. Turbos are expensive to repair or replace. it's yet another point of failure you don't want.

550i all day long.....that V8 rumble cannot be replaced unless you add (not subtract) two cylinders to the equation....plus it will be like your 545i but with less problems...and faster
