Ok guys...I have a 545i (2004) and my friend has a 335xi coupe(2007)...we're going to race...who is going to win? Race will be about 3 miles straight highway with little to no traffic...
Don't bet him money. If its for three miles on a street it will come down to who drives better and who is braver. Have fun.

335 will blow you out of the waters. Those cars are quick. I've been in a stock 335 that was neck to neck with an M5

Be safe!

too bad a 525i wasn't racing. It would definately win in fuel economy. :-)

I agree with NPE, I think it will be pretty even since he has 300hp but is 55lbs lighter, while I have 325hp...and we're def gonna have to take it to the track...don't want to risk anything...
335i will win, no question.

BMW likes to make people think the 335i has only 300hp. 335i easily puts out about 330hp at the crank.

Automobile dynoed a stock 335i, they calculated 350hp.

http://www.automobilemag.com/features/news...eter/index.html
"The non-turbocharged 330i, rated by BMW at 255 hp and 220 lb-ft of torque, puts about 200 hp and 180 lb-ft to the rear wheels. That's roughly a twenty-percent loss. Since they have similar drivelines, you'd expect the 335i to put down 235 hp and 250 lb-ft.

But it didn't. It put down a whole lot more: 275 hp and 300 lb-ft. A few quick taps on our trusty calculator shows that this engine is likely putting out closer to 350 hp and 360 lb-ft of torque."
