Hi,
I am having a problem to start the engine when it's warm. Engine starts for 2-3 seconds with around 350-500 RPM and then it dies.
When I try the second time is starts normally and I don?t have any problems.
It is 2005 545i Manual with 92k

I replaced already the Pressure Regulating Valve - Repair Kit.

After that I am getting much better gas milage, but it didn't fix my problem.

Any suggestions?

Sure sounds like a fuel pressure problem, like a check valve not holding pressure, with cold starts being pressurized by a different system and so not affected.

Thank you for the answer.
Is the check valve inside the fuel pump? Do I need to replace the pump?

Unfortunately my expertise ends at wild-ass guesses. I had similar problems on an older vehicle with a much less complicated engine and that's what it was (and indeed the check valve on the fuel pump was the issue). If you can isolate the symptoms even further and go to a knowledgeable tech, they could probably diagnose very quickly. Perhaps someone around here will stop by. Sorry I can't be more assistance.

Hey Dawid, I've been noticing the same problem on my '04 545i 6 spd. On warm starts, it will start, then die. Then typically has been starting up on the second try.

Have you been able to diagnose your problem?

Thanks for the insight!

Jake
