The redline (or warning band) on the car used to move to 6500 rpm once it was warmed up, and now I notice it only goes to 6250 then stops moving. I know it is not a problem with the gauge as the gauge moves to 6500 rpm once the car is shutoff. There are no codes showing in idrive, what is going on? I've seen a few complaints about this but no solution given.

Just noticed you are in Canada. Mine is USA spec, so this may be the difference. On mine, the redline is fixed at 6500 rpm. It never moves. The hashed warning zone never gets shorter than 4 hash marks, or 6250 rpm. You may encroach into the hash marked warning zone for brief periods. If you push past the redline, the fuel will shutoff to prevent engine damage.

My warning zone definitely goes well below 6250 (id guess 5000 maybe) when the car is cold, but won't go to 6500 like it used to.
I was mostly wondering whether the car was detecting something else unusual and therefore keeping the warning zone below 6500.

Those hash marks are basically your temperature gauge. I believe they did away with it and made them fixed on the LCI models. Mine starts below 5K and moves to 4 ticks when fully warm. If yours is showing more then 4 when warmed up I would guess that your thermostat is starting to fail.

Hmm... Mine is only showing 4 marks or so now when the car should be fully warmed up, except they used to go away completely. When I had the car inspected several months ago they noted a thermostat failure code and mentioned that I should watch it as it could have been a random failure or the thermostat could be tired and need replacement.
Sounds to me like its probably worthwhile replacing that.
