Wolverine,

How thick is your clutch stop?? Sounds like a good idea as the clutch throw is very long, yet the engagement point is close to the top.

Thanks for educating a first time BMW owner on the tricks.

It's a 5/8" thick piece of hardwood, 1" wide, 2" long. It fits very well just under the clutch pedal, hot melt glued to the carpet on the floorboard. Positioning it higher on the floorboard takes out more travel, positioning it lower takes out less. You need to drive around and experiment using double stick tape to find the right position for you. Once you find the right spot, you can glue it in place.

Dont they sell ones that screw into a slot behind the clutch? And that way you can adjust it by turning the screw. ALso That way u dont need to glue it. I know they did for the E39 dont know about the E60

Update on engine Vibration: BMW has run out of options. I am meeting with the field rep on Monday to see what he has to say.

Ya at UUC Motor Werks.

http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/html_product/..._stop/index.htm

Now I'm not sure if it will work with the E60... you might want to look into it. I just know that they are available...

I feel for You, I returned my car because of this problem. BMW has aknowledged the problem but have no solotion. The last thing I heard when I returned the car was that BMW currently investigating the vavles, why I do not know. I have had this problem since the day I got the car (one year ago) and that BMW has tried to fix this (among other things) but not succeded.

Best regards,
Reine

Reine,

You are the first person I have found that has had the same problem. Good info to have when I meet with the BMW rep.

I did not feel the problem with another 4.4l on the lot, so I figured it was rare or at the minimum, not right.

Are you going to get another one? Did BMW give you a full credit?

I have had no other problems with the car, except for the tires and an ECM recall that held up my car at the VPC for a month. Otherwise the last 10k miles have been pure enjoyment.

Any info you can provide would be very helpful with my negotiations. If they want to replace the engine, I am going to push for a buy back the car. I just don't know how long I can go without it. If I wait for a 2006 in the hopes of the 4.8l, it would be a very miserable wait.

Any info/details you can provide would be very appreciated.
