Default 545i cooling pipe

Im experiencing the dreaded coolant pipe leak on my 04 545i. Ive seen a couple options as far as aftermarket pipes to fix it and then I stumbled upon this bimmer pipe stent where you place a stent in the pipe where water pump goes.

Has anyone had a luck with something like these or should I just stick with taking the manifold off and installing a pipe. Along those lines who has the best pipe for the best price. Don't want something super cheap but don't want to overpay if i don't have too. Would like opinions on the best places to order it from and any tips/tricks to performing this job. Im thinking about tackling it this weekend.

thanks in advance.

In theory seems like it will work but doubt you want to go back in there if something is wrong after, that process probably cant be undone. So eventually you might be back at square one, I'd do it right the first time my brother... DIY: Coolant Leak Repair ( Cap w Seal and Expanding Coolant Pipe) w Pics - Bimmerfest - BMW Forums
There's a PDF attached to that post, same operation for a 545... Good luck brother, there's a couple different pipes you can choose from for the repair, cost vary depends on you tho.

I used the uro pipe for my leak, did the repair over a year ago with no problems. I believe it took about 4 hours start to finish. Easy

Do you remember, how much parts ran you?

I do not remember exactly, I am not around my car records at the moment. I wanna say with all the gaskets and some hoses it was under 500.

Yea I was thinking that but I just wanted the opinion of the gurus up here. From what I've read it seems people were having issues of setting the seals in place correctly. I barely drive the car so I keep putting it off but I will have to face the music and fix it one day.

Thanks for the advice!!

I'd really like to hear about the stent version from someone who has done it. If the adhesive/sealer is durable then there is no reason that it wouldn't be as effective as the others.
I don't know if the Uro, Dorman, or AGA? pipes have addressed future pipe corrosion at the front O ring.

Finally have some free time and decided to ordered the URO pipe today. Should be here sometimes next week. I have a buddy that can get me the parts from the stealer on discount so will get all needed gaskets/seals there. Will post pictures and updates once and I start and finish the job.

Hello,

In the future if anybody runs into the same issue with the E60 BMW's we do carry the transfer pipe kit and a few other coolant pipes.

Here is the link for the coolant pipe parts that we have available for the E60:

Disclaimer: Make sure to verify the year and model of the vehicle to insure proper fitment.
