BMW rates it at 5.6 for the manual and 5.8 for the Step if I recall correctly.

Power braking, braking torquing, whatever you call it, the 545i will indeed do 5.0 and better. It's been accomplished by two members here (Znod and grogan545). It's not easy to do, but in the right conditions it can be done. Now, what are the right conditions? Cold weather < 60 F, burn outs to heat the tires, 60' ft times under 2 seconds, immediate hookup of the tires when launching and lots and lots of practice.

I don't know why you brought up the matter of the Merc (which Merc?) beating the 545i in a straight line. I was answering your comment about the 545i not being able to achieve 5.0. It can.

It's all good, man. There is some truth to the saying "We'll take them in the twisties" in reference to BMW outhandling MB. At the last Socal Meet and Greet, I was the lead car on a canyon run and rodybmw's 545i was glued to me. I don't doubt that if he were the lead car, he might have left me behind.

No contest. 525/528/530/535/545/550/M5 out handles any AMG car except the CLK 63 BS. I find it hard to believe the CLK 63 BS a better handler than the E93 M3. Anyhow, the E63 doesn't have the steering feedback nor handling comparable to the 545i. The M5 would kill the E63 on the track and twisties, IMO.
I should preface that the e60s I listed should have the Sport package in order to out handle an AMG.
