I had a #3 cylinder misfire yesterday. I bought and installed a new BWD coil pack, however the installation part wasn't exactly smooth. The connector would only go about halfway in now matter how hard I tried to cram it...errrr...coax it in. I scavenged the retainer clip from the original coil, and that helped a bit. It still won't seat all the way...roughly 1/8 inch from fully engaged. The retaining clip is raised a bit as well. This does not effect the function, as the car runs as smooth as silk again. Anyone experience this problem besides me?

I am a newbie too, but I just did a sparkplug change on my 05 545i. Couple of things, make sure the connecter boot is like (length wise) the original, and I would suggest using some dielectric (silicon) grease on the inside end of the boot to make it easier to install. The only clips on my engine were to hold the coil/boot in pairs, ie cylinders 1&3. Hope this of some help.

That's a good call on the grease...the first thing I did was commpare the two and they look identical. Obviously there is a difference if using the old clip made it work better. I'll give it a try this weekend...see if it helps.
