I took my car to Brecht in Escondido and they loaded it with 16.3 to correct a list of issues, including the slam. I guess I was a bit early for the slam correction, so I am taking it back to get 17.1 soon. I need to schedule an appointment. I also now have runflat noise and am going to ask for replacement of my Dunlops. They seem fairly knowledgeable there and will consult with the BMWNA field engineer if necessary. There is a Service Bulletin on the slam problem: http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=12152
BMW of SD should have looked it up for you.

Who is your SA?

My SA was Patrick, I had a test drive with John from the service department to verify the door seal noises and throttle lag etc. I had been in before for the same issues and at that point the service guys could not reproduce the faults but I didn't have that issue today - they picked them up right away and were very on the ball in terms of the appropriate fixes. I'll post back when I get the car back and update on the fixes.

Over 2 weeks with version 17.01 and no slams. In addition, the transmission is smoother than ever. The car drives pretty much perfect.

swajames-- how is 17.1 working out? Are the slamming incidences gone? I'm picking up my new 545i at Mt View BMW tomorrow and I'm wondering if I should insist that they install 17.1 if they haven't already. Thanks.

I had service with Patrick and John before. Pat was very rude at the beginning when I brought my car in for throttle delay. He said that the problem could not be reproduced. I insisted to test drive with John, shop foreman, and he also said that it was normal. I then printed out the TSB from BMWTIS and handed it to Patrick. They updated the software and apologized for what they did before. Also, I asked him if he could do anything with the brake noise, and he replied me with a very quick answer "No" without asking me for more information to offer help.

My car still have the brake squeak driving around town makes me feel like a low class guy. What's the going on BMW?

There is a fix for that. A brake bad senor doesn't wear evenly with the brake pad and grinds into the rotor. It's a retarted BMW design
