Hello, I was out of town and left my 545 in my garage, I left on Tuesday morning, on Thursday the local BMW dealer called my wife saying that I had called requesting and appointment for service, she wasn't aware and responded that I would call them when I was back in town. On Friday night, my wife wanted to use my car but it would not start, so, on Saturday morning she called roadside assistance, they came to my house and jump started the car. I got home on Saturday around 2pm and when I started the car, most of the service light indicators where on (yellow), as if the car was due for Oil Service, Front and rear brakes, brake fluid flush, emission test and inspection (all but the bottom two service indicators were on). I am now wondering if the car automatically places a call to dealer when service is needed and that is why dealer called my house. Also, after driving it for a while on Saturday, all the service lights are green again, like no service is needed. And still have no clue why battery died. I will take it to dealer anyway but expect they will have no clue, as usual.

Humm interesting... car calls for a doctor itself to save its own life... WOW Jump start... I'll be afraid of that in the E60... too many electronics... horror stories have been posted before.

Was your car ever complaining about High Battery Drain prior to this issue? I still get this warning intermittently. I can't seem to figure out a pattern or reason for this, and so far it hasn't died (and it started after a week-long trip I just returned from) but I'm not too comfortable with this.

I had to jump my car once because I accidently left the key position on while trying to charge my cell phone (not sure why my power outlets have no power unless the switch is in the second position.) Anyway, jumping the car blew my mass air sensor and the car ran like sh%t until the dealer replaced it. Word to the wise...jumping this car will probably "F" something up on this car.

Has anyone added water to the battery yet. I was planning on trying sometime this summer and just wondered if anyone had luck doing that yet.

Wouldn't that be done as part of a normal service? Topping the fluids?

Supposedly, yes. But, I believe there is a way to add water and extend life. Mine normally fail in 3-4 years.

Not after 4/50 - at least I don't think they would be.
