Pointless arguing, im just giving you my first hand experience having owned or owned both vehicles and driven them to the limit.

Bothers me not what you think your E60 is capable of........I am happy for you to have your own opinion.

I currently own both too. 02 M3, 04 545i sport.

Surprising numbers on paper. I dont quite know how to feel about them...

(g's, slalom)
BMW 545i /w Sport Package (0.89g, 66.1 mph)
BMW M3 (0.89 g , 62mph)

*Hans Stuck will lap the ring faster than me driving a slower car than me.

Find someone with an E46 M3 and go to the track if you really want to find out which is faster. While you may have some sense when you are racing to slow down when traffic approaches, the other idiot who you are racing may feel winning the street race is too important to slow down.

This car's faster...that car's faster....blah blah blah.....You should be more restrained for your sake and those who care about you!
Yes, you should all drive Toyota Priuses.

He's got you on paper. I do too! :0

08 535i
0 - 60 (sec): 5.5
1/4 Mile (sec @ mph): 14.0 @ 100.4

2004 BMW M3
0-60 4.8
1/4 mile 13.6 @103.4 (C&D)

2004 BMW 545i
0-60 5.4
1/4 13.7 @102 (Mtrend)
On paper, that's a difference.
At the drag strip it might be a difference.
In the real world your data proves it's close enough to be a toss up.
