Thumbs up

Hi, Guys!
I've been a lurker on the forums for a few years now. Earlier this year, I purchased an E90 335i. It was totalled a few weeks ago in an accident with a deer. I am shopping for a replacement vehicle. I originally looked at the E60, but decided on the E90 because it had the new turbo engine. At this point, both vehicles are available with the engine and possible to find on the dealers lot. I am leaning towards the E60, but my practical side says E90. I've compared numbers, specs and features, but I still am having trouble making a decision. I hope you guys can help me make a decision on my next vehicle. Feel free to ask me any questions. Here are the specs of the two vehicles:

2008 E90 335i
Black Sapphire/Terra - Burl Walnut
Premium, Sport, Cold Weather, Auto w/ Paddle Shifters, PDC, Comfort Access, Navigation, Sirius and iPod
I would really like to have the power shade, but there aren't any vehicles out there with this build and I don't want to wait to order it.

2008 E60 535i
Black Sapphire/ Natural Brown - Bamboo
Premium, Sport, Cold Weather, Sport Auto, PDC, Comfort Access, Nav, Sirius, iPod, Logic7, Power Rear Shade
All of the must have options are on this one...

Glad to hear you are OK after the accident I can only assume the deer didn't fair as well ! Well you have a nice dilemma, but from my POV a simple one... I think . Is the 335 a Sedan or Coupe?,The coupe gets big style marks but is low on practicality , the sedan gets practicality points but....... really low style points. For me you have to get the the 5 series. The weight is virtually the same so speed & handling will be very comparable ( the Coupe would be slightly better ). But there are no detractors for the 5 , great styling, superb handling and very, very practical...............Of course , this is all IMHO ! Good Luck

Cheers

Personally I would go with the 5, especially like for like i.e. sedan and same engine, in a heart beat.

Every time I get (and drive) a 3 series it feels like putting on a cheap suit.

Thanks for the quick reply and for the concern. I am looking at the 335i sedan. The deer did not fair so well, but he did at least limp off the road. I haven't had the opportunity to push the 535i as far as I pushed my 335i. The handling and speed difference of one of my largest concerns. I want to be confident that I am not giving up anything up for the additional luxury.

They won't be quite the same, but the 5er will hold its own. ARS is a pretty amazing system, and closes much of the gap in everyday driving.

Moving up to the next level is a big part of the equation. The E60 is more of a 'grown-up' vehicle over the E90.

Has anyone had the opportunity to really 'drive' the two vehicles and could give me details on the difference?

A 5er "can" be a "grown up" car ...... but with a few options it can be a " Beast" , unless you get the 3 Coupe and trick it out you will never get a "Beast" out of a 3 Sedan...............the 535 is an exceptional car . The weight to power ratio, torgue and HP plus the extra room make this a VERY seductive car VS the 3................ write the cheque !!!

I've been thinking the same thing. I find the E60 to be a much more attractive vehicle.

Hi,

If we were looking at the 335 coupe then it would be a hard choice as then 5 and the 3 coupe both have the style but different prpositions of course. But there is no way you can compare the 5 to the 3 sedans!!! go for the E60 and you won't regret it
