Owned 6 weeks with 2000 mi. The car is really fun to drive and is breaking in nicely. Average fuel consuption is in the 21.5 to 22.5 mpg range. Lowest was 17 mpg in early break in. For the sport package you have to order leather seats since the comfort seats are part of the sport package. I have the sport package and a manual transmission and it is a great package. Performance, handling, style, economy, and comfort is all there in a stealthy package. Biggest issue is controlling my right foot.

Ditto on the right foot ... finnaly saw a NON sport package 535 at the wash today... Guy asked me how I got the 545 wheels and the black out trim....

I looked at him and said apparently your dealer did not tell you what was on the sport package. He scratched his head and said I guess I missed out....

I am coming out of a 335 coupe, and looking seriously at the 535 with sport package.

If you have been driving one for a significant amount of time I would like to hear about it. Reliability, acceleration, handling, comfort, anything you could comment on.

I know I could search for this, but I did not want to read tons of 535 vs 550 post. I would also only like to hear from actual 535 owners.
Smart to say that because these V8 guys are always looking for a soapbox to stand on (kidding).
I came from a 545 SMG which was a great car. I was even quoted in Autoweek as say it was the best car I ever had.
The 2008 are more civilized- better ride, better seats, nicer interior. The 535 is faster accelerating than the 545 but the engine is smoother especially at idle and at high revs. I was going to get the 550 until I heard that performance engine software was going to be available which would put it ahead of the 550 as far as acceleration and top speed. After you option everything and add the software the monthly lease costs get very close, so your not really saving much money by getting the 535 unless you forgo the software.

I ought not to answer you since you want to snub non-535i owners , but the 20-way seats come with the Premium package. Those seats replaced the Sport seats in '08 (maybe '07.)
Actually the 20-way seats come with the Sport Package, not Premium.
