I just got my '08 535 back outta the shop for electronic issues .. and the same night .. a deer hit me :-(!! Took it back to work that Friday and the estimated damages are around $4500. I didnt have my camera so i havent taken pics yet .. but the car is at the plant, so i prolly wont get it back before they fix the damages or if they decide to fix the damages! From what i could see, the hood is a lil bent in the front, broken headlight and foglight .. and the bottom front bumper is smashed. :-(

The company will call me monday to let me know the details of the car. They will either fix it and give it back to me, or fix it and sell it and keep me in a loaner until my next vehicle arrives.

For a loaner i got a X3. never have driven one before! I have driven the X5, but the X3 isnt that bad at all. It doesnt have all the "fancy stuff" that the 3 and 5 Series has, but will last!!

I will post pics of my car if i get to see it again .. here are a few of my loaner X3. Its Jet Black/Black and gray wood .. and heated REAR seats!! I had it cleaned today!! looks good!

I just missed hitting a big 8 pointer right in the ass as he was crossing the road the other night; thank god for xenons and good brakes. They definately do some damage.

Oh wow, a run of bad luck.

I like my X3 as a second vehicle. See the pics in the "second vehicle" thread. It would make a fine first car for those not spoiled by the 5er and V8s.
Mine is an '06 so it doesn't have the extra HP or goodies of the newer ones.

Wow a coolant temp guage ...what a great idea, next time I'll have to step "up" to an X3 so I can have guages

Glad you were OK and not injured. Will you be BBQ'ing venison for a while now

Hopefully - it will be disclosed that the vehicle has been in an accident? Curious BMWfan05, are your temporary vehicles sold as "new" cars or (most likely) as manufacturer demo vehicles?

Sorry to hear about you accident. Deer can certainly make a mess of your car. At least you weren't hurt. It's not uncommon to have one come through the windscreen.

As for the X3:

I also have an '06 as a second car. (I guess it's a first car from my wife's perspective. It's hers, and she won't drive my manual 5er.)

I really like driving it. It's nearly as agile and "tossable" as a 3er, but will plenty of space for a family. It's certainly not refined like the 5er, and lacks many of its electronic goodies, since it's based on the E46. However, I could buy two of them for the price of a 550, so the value proposition is there.

I'll definitely get another one, as it is the most logical vehicle for us. The 3er wagon is too cramped, and the 5er wagon is too pricey. In addition to price, the X5 is a real behemoth. My wife also likes the perspective you get from a tall vehicle.
