As i promised i found a 4,5liter V8...and not just an E60 but a very very nice 6er.
First time: i launched slightly better and got aprox half a car length till 160km/h speed at wich the 645 started to pull away slowly till 180-190 or so when he was a car length or a car length and a half in the front and we had to brake.
Second run: we launched pretty much the same with him having a tiny better start and he pulled half a car in front and the gap stayed the same till 160 or so. After that speed the gap had come to maximum 2 car till 200km/h or so.
We aslo did a roll on: from 40km/h but i messed up really because i hit 2nd and was at around 2000rpm and instead of pushing the accelerator gently i floored it and the stupid gearbox changed to 1st and then back to 2nd again if oyu know what i mean. So that is to be discussed and imo it's not a valid test. Anyway he pulled half a car till i dunno what speed cuz we had to brake pretty soon.
The full story is to be found (in romanian) on this site also with the lil clips attached to it:

and wait...still to come on this battle.
So in conclusion...we have the best evidence and all those crazy d-bates can come to an end. The diesel can keep up with it's petrol brother but only till 150-160km/h, speeds at wich the battle tends to end. Another thing i might want to add is the fact that the diesel kept up surprisingly well. I didn't expect that really. And keeping in mind that the cars are virtually glued till 160km/h that means that they run pretty much the same times (close) on the 1/4. Also in conclusion a remaped 535d will leave behind the v8 petrol at any speed. But this has to be proven after i come back from Germany in September or August with the reamp by wetterauer.

What I mean there was a long, heated discussion about 535d vs 545i recently and 545i owners didn't want to 'believe'. But hey, they're all great ![Twoup](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/twoup.gif)
