Igor,

Having just spent over 2 hours cleaning my saphire black today (an almost weekly ritual :'( ) I think something other than a very dark colour is in order

I know how you feel, sometimes I think I hate my Jet Black.
Yep, difficult task. Then probably makes sense to see how light poplar wood looks like in person, if OK ...probably take Eq3 and pay for the matching personal exterior BMW colour.

Igor,

I was thinking of light poplar with caramel or champagne to go with the Le Mans blue. Failing that I'd take the anthracite maple.

If you are not afraid of maintenace Platin looks IMHO the most delicious. But better wait to have exact light poplar shade to match/contrast.
BTW never seen Le Mans bleu in person ... Is it close to Mystic bleu?

Le mans is darker than mystic. It looks nicer IMHO. I'll have to have real thought on colours if I go for another E60.

Oh my god! What have I done, I was looking forward to the extra performance but now somehow I don't think I will be. Oh well I'm getting a whole host of stuff I didn't have before.

Drove a 535 today and have a 530. It went and went and went. Didn't have the turbo lag of the 530. it growled and looked awsome in Carbon Black. Don't know if I should buy it. It corners a hell of a lot better than the 530. The 530 also looks fatter. That twin turbo does make it move. Dealer claims 32 mpg. Guy driving it is conservative. Without a heavy foot what car quote 32 combined, high 30s motorway driving. Its heavliy loaded, but not got HUD. Who fits a TV in their car for christ's sake. Bitching ride though.

Hej,
I changed my 530d for a 535dMsport, and although the 530d was a perfect ride, the 535D is really overclassing it at all rpm ranges. The biggest difference is at low and high rpm. It doesn't have to gear down if you are cruising f.e. at 1500 rpm for a nice push in the back and it goes and goes.........
Disadvantage is clearly the 20% higher fuell consumpition! From 8,5 to 10,5 liter/100km! The power must come from somewhere ofcourse.
The 330ci did have troubles to reach the 530d-drivingpleasure but now it really standing in the shadow to the 535D m-pack
I drove many years diesels and I thought always that i missed some petrol fun. Then i bought the 3.0i....big disappointment...no torque...only some power at very high rpm.....but beautifull sound In 90% of the driving conditions the diesels give bouble fun!!!!!!!!!!!!

Totally agree the 535d doesn't have 272bhp and 413lb ft for nothing. The 530d is a fantastic car and the 535d is much more of the same

Having only ever tested or owned the 535d, I love it.

However, do remember that as well as the greater (arguably!) engine, a lot of extra come as standard on the 535d that you have to pay for on the 530d

Just a few:

Auto box - ?1350
Front armrest - ?125
Auto Air con (advanced) - ?575

So that is ?2050 worth of extra toys, for an extra ?3400 on list price (Nov 2004 figures)

So the engine costs ?1300 more....!
