New here and i think i found my place Just about to buy a new 535d. M i doing a mistake? My biggest concern is the automatic transmission. I never ever drivven an automatic before. SO i don't know wheather you can accelerate with tire smoke or if you can drift a little bit?!? It would be a new experience for me. Interested aswell to tuned it after 3-4000 km. I saw smth aobut wheel spacers. Where can i find such things? What are theyre role? Only for looks? Improves stability? What about tire use, does it stay the same? I am quite interested in a long jorney between a 535d and a 545i who would win? i mean 80-120 times 100-140 and so on!?!

Automatics are great. There not boring, you can accelerate with tyre smoke, just turn the traction control off. The 535d has to have the auto due to the amount of torque. The M6 only comes with auto (i think) aswell. If you choose a 535d, i don't think you going to be disappointed.

What about the wheel spacers? And about the 535d vs 545i comparo? Who would win in your opinion between a 535d and an rx-8 at drag?

Welcome aboard, BetterMakeWay. Reading your post and the questions you're asking, you ARE doing a mistake. If you are looking for "who would win" and spacers, tire smoke, drifts and chip tuning... Get a 545 or an Emmy.
Anyways, the auto tranny is real damn good.

New boy here.... so be nice!

Have a 535d Sport arriving on Thurs on an Auto box. I test drove one and it was Fantastic bellieve me!

I always had manual on cars, until I bought a little SLK230 with an auto box, and with the traction control off it snaked like a bugger which was great fun when it was wet on our lanes! I loved it.

Will let you know Thursday afternoon....!!

Welcome AlanM, another Hampshire boy!!

Careful on those wet lanes, with all that torque and the traction control off the back will step out very quickly - I might meet you coming the other way!!!

Thanks chaps!

Andy - have you any pics of your rear spoiler?? Only seen one (but was passing in the other direction!) on a silver 535d sport.

At least our V6 A4 Audi has manual so that is fun!!

I took the SLK around Brands hatch last year for 12 laps. The only problem when driving an auto/tip tronic car is that it can change gear after you have turned in.

I had a few hairy moments when turning into Paddock Hill Bend when I tried to drive it manually and it kicked down.... and nearly kicked me off into the gravel.

Back at Brands in August with the 535d. Gives me a few months to get it tuned!
