Thumbs down

Hi all,

according to the document attached, 535d consumption should vary from 4.5l to 9l/100Km (Extra-urban to Urban - see page 31). I'm not even anywhere close to these figures. Last days around 18mpg in the city. Should I be bothered with that? It's more likely to be 545i consumption..

I am on 2,000 miles. I have not reset the MPG since I picked the car up. I have driven it "like I stole it" since the day I got it (no run in period at all). At around 1,000 miles I had it remapped - I drive it even harder now.

In these 2,000 miles, my MPG is showing 32.8mpg. 60% of this is stop/start traffic. I always floor it everywhere and doubt I could get the MPG any worse if I tried!

I do stop/start all the way unfortunately, and average 28mpg or so. I did a Pan-Europe jaunt this summer though, and got an average 34.8mpg doing a constant 90-100mph.

Great car the 535d. It makes me feel good every time i drive it, for lots of different reasons.

Alright That's right. It makes you feel good every time you drive it, for lots of different reasons. And you create lots of different reasons to drive it

So since my reason was important enough to go shopping (to the same shop which we have behind the block) all over the city I made some field research..

Fast starts at redlights, building up speeds from 60Km/h (100mph) to 250Km/h (155mph) several times, driving like RUSS stole it .. I finished back home after one hour with average consumption of 10l/100Km (28mpg UK ~ 23mpg US). I guess this is to be considered good, right? All driven in D mode. Maybe a tiny bit, about half a liter plus is a matter of using audio + seat heating + seat cooling + seat massage on.

What worries me the most, is increased consumption when cruising at low speeds. It seems like idling makes the consumption go high up. Isn't it a sign of a need to change/repair something in the engine? I got 100.000Km(60.000miles) already. But rsyed says he has the same feeling/problem - how much Kms do you have rsyed?

The figures RUSS posted are simply excellent (that's the way it should be). Well ... What a FANTASTIC CAR!!!

I get 27-28 mpg on a mix of daily 80% city 20% motorway ( total travelling 24 miles). Put my foot down harder and it comes down to 24mpg

Cruise control at 70mph and I can squeeze out 38mpg.
