Steve guess what R. just gave me now, issue of 08/2006 Total BMW and was thinking of this. Mate we live once... GET THE M5! and do not look back!

you will have the luxury comfort of the E60
v10 that even beats the M drei, and lots of fun
only thing you may "loose" is the tank but honestly who buy an M5 and looking on tank capacity or cost of petrol, take the plunge and post it up get a RINGTAXI sticker LoL
Best said!
Man go for the M5 and don't look back. You'll forever regret if you don't. Simply take an Ex and go sign the papers without looking at fuel consumption and stuff...kidding but just do it and that's that.

Thanks for the responses I'd love to take Paul's car but as this is through my company I'll be paying tax on the list price of the car, so I want a car that's close to list price and as low mileage as possible. Besides, I've seen the way Paul drove that car around the Nurburgring Just kidding!

I'm test driving an M5 tonight, so far so good although 1 degree and the possibility of snow tomorrow isn't so good

Will let you know how I get on. Looks likely I'll go for it

Steve,

you don't really want an answer from me, do you ? Would be not appropriate for an open forum.

I'd say you're gonna have it anyway and rightly so.

Do it

the 3rd day of M5 ownership i've had transmission fault.
After that i've had 2 transmission errors, but no lock down as of yet (touch wood).
My M5 is a 06 model, september delivery.

Love the car, wife loves it. It's a bit bumpy, but the torque just isn't there compared to our other cars (merc S550 and Sl500).

Just do it, as you'll love it when you do & always regret it if you don't.

The +'s are very obvious, that being almost everything about the M5 (& the 535d M-Sport is a fabulous car). The driving experience, power, noise, toys, chassis, suspension, a proper M & don't forget DMS can work magic on M5's as well.

The -'s are the size of the fuel tank which is fine in a 520 or a 5 Diesel, but woeful on the M5 as they're the same size across the range so expect a range on no more than 240miles when cruising & as i think you already know, i can only manage 3-4laps of Nordschleife on a full tank of fuel. Also factor in higher insurance (you'll need some kind of Tracker system) & although they hold their value OK in % terms, being a higher value car the actual ??'s they lose is fairly high. Other running costs are fine (servicing & brakes etc.) however they chew up rear rubber every 8000 miles & fronts about every 16000 & if you go for PS2's (which you must) that's about ?600 for 2 tyres.

Did you not notice, that mine is for sale & what a bargain as it's the cheapest for sale in the UK right now & has the highest spec by far.

What are you changing it for now?
