I understand what you are saying , but why the limp mode happends when you had wagner IC ? Right now im about to fit IC 600*300*76 its 0.5 L bigger then wagner one( I think it will be OK) , however I still don't understand why you get a limp in wot in 400 hp setup? Does your remaper increase the boost limit? I don't see where the problem is , right now with bigger exhaust turbos want to produce 2.5 or 2.6 bars , which I think it's a little bit high for stock turbos , but when you increase the limit of the overboost from 2.3 to 2.5 then the car shouldn't goes in LIMP mode, and still on other gears like 3rd and 4th the boost will remain as now 2.3 which is about 350-360 hp, which is good enough and safe for turbos. On 1st and 2nd gear my boost is even lower , cause the car can't take off when wot, it just goes straight to drifting w/o traction and with traction it just return my acceleration. So I think by you the LIMP mode appear cause of overboost limit if It was still left under 2.5? Im just thinking that when you increase the overboost limit higher , and since the car wont produce anymore then 2.5 or 2.6 boost, it will be safe for turbos and the car wont go in limp mode , and I put bigger IC , cause you see back in the thread readings from INPA the air from IC at 2.5 bar is 90 degrese which is dangerous for the motor. So put bigger cooler so the air at 2.5 2.6 will be OK, and increase limit only in 5th and 6th since I wont drive over 230 anylonger then few seconds. I think everything should be ok?

Bump it.
Any guy that actually fix this issue , cause in about 10 days I will buy a IC 600*300*76 and will mount it , and I really dont want to waste money and time for nothing . I know a guy in my home town he have 535D e61 also chipped w/o DPF, EGR we did few runs from 30 to 200 and the car was all the time equal. However he did a video where he hit 260 w/o problem(his car dont go into a limp mode). So maybe his car is with reduced fuel in 5th and 6th gear in order not to overboost or what? Im really confused from what exactly this limp mode at 5th and 6th gear appear?

Guys I'm new to this forum. I have a 635d and I'm having the same issue many of you are quoting here. I get error code 428b and cannot exceed 130mph. Has anyone been able to solve this because for 6 months I have been trawling the forums but cannot find any results and the BMW independents garages don't can't get to the bottom of it either.

At monday I go to the local tuning garage to put my new IC 600*300*76 which is about 2 times more valume then stock one, after that I should go to my mapper to correct my boost limit at 5th and 6th gear and I will test it and tell you what is happening but mainly this issue accours after remap ( when your exhaust system is streight pipe) so gases sppoil the turbos and they overboost and car get in limp mode. Good thing is that my mapper got a dyno stend , so we can test the car multiply times w/o risking our+people lifes.

Default LImp mode

ok sorry this is a old thread but i just had to say this ive owned a e60 535d msport pre lci for almost a year and it sees 120 130 140 150 mph on a regular basis the car was standard until last week i got it mapped for the first time i gave it a test on way home from the mapper and boom 120 mph lost all power it hit limp mode for the first time ever this car has given me zero bother in the engine compartment. I got onto the mapper straight away as obviously its the map is the problem. He doesn't know what to do or how to resolve it so he offered to put the car back to standard power on standard map which is abit disheartening for me as i like the extra power but i dont want the limp mode either. Any suggestions welcome?

Another 5 years on.. I’m having this issue? Did anyone find the solution? Seems like it’s a waste gate issue? Happened to me whilst I was toying with a Renault track car.

I got the issue fixed eventually, it turned out to be the waste gate on the large turbo.
It was opening and then getting stuck, did this everytime and caused limp mode.

Eventually found it (don't recommend this) by placing a Go-Pro camera inside the engine and driving on the road until limp mode was hit, I could see the waste gate open, but not close, it's electronic so the force of the spooling shouldn't have caused this, it would close when I slowed down but not exit limp mode.

Showed this to the mapping company, and they adjusted the actuate values for the turbo and its been perfect ever since.

Hope this helps someone.

so who’s the person to solve it mate? Does it have to be a mapper to fix this?
