When cold my engine trigers at idle a low frequency longitudinal jerk to the body.

It is not very perturbating but surprising.

I do not speak about the the vribrations of the engine itself. I think it must be originated by the engine mounts.

Am I the only one?

Hi,
I have the same phenomenon , since begining 11/04. My dealer checked the motor and they found that the digital Motor-manegment has a software switch problem from cold to warm temp reducing the diesel/ increasing air amounte=(automatic joker in old cars!) specially when the motor water temperatur is near to 75? (before and after this temp. there is no prblem). u can check the motor/water temp indirect by the white lines in the motor rpm. My motor vibration starts when the white limitation lines are betw. 4400-4700.
My dealer tells me at the moment there is no solution for this problem (my dealer is located in Vienna/Autria).
Good Luck.

I don't have this problem yet. (600 km car) but i do feel it vibrates a little bit more when the engine is cold and it even makes slighlty more noise. Anyway i have a few questions especially for those 535d owners. 1. Do you have an idle time at smth like 600rpm? my engine is idle at this level. (strange to me because in my other diesel cars it was smth like 800-850rpm althought this is the first car with automatic tranny). So in automatic it stayes a little lower at slihlty above 500rpm?
and 2. how can i tell if my engine has warmed up? i don't have a rpm line restriction...or at least i didn't see one. do you have to turn the lights on to see it? or is my engine alywas heated ? really know i didn't see one! when the engine si cold where is the rpm line limit start?
10x alot in advance

For a diesel the noise at cold start is realy low.
My idle speed is around 750 rpm. No difference when drive engaged in D or AC on of off.
You can control the engine warm up by cheking the rpm teller. You will see a certain amount white dashes on the outside gradually reduced form 42000 rpm to 4800 rpm close to the red zone

Right! it's there (the rev limiter). 10x alot!
btw i have goodyear eagle ntc or smth like that RFT, what is the correct tire pressure (normal load)? I've heard smth like u have to give it some more pressure because when u inflate them over the settings u can make the ride more confortable because u run on the side walls less. Is that true?

AS far as I am concerned my NCT5 are real crap in terms of comfort. It is getting worse if you increase tyre pressure. I use 2,2 and 2,7.

Correction: my idle speed is also around 600 rpm. I confirm that it does not change when the car is in D
