NOT with the 535d. It's VERY thirsty (for a diesel).

And TBH diesels in general don't go "twice as far" as a "comparable" petrol car. Nowhere near.

Hello All,

I was at BMW for a little work on my car and I got into a conversation with my SA about his recent 2-day trip so SanFran to check out new models. He got to drive the 535D and told me it will become available in the US sometime next year... something like 250HP and 440ft-lbs torque - should be fun!

Jon.
So from 2008 many diesel-addicts here! Wow, can't wait, many people who will say have 535d remapped to 450 HP

Huh?

Sure remap a 535d to 450HP and travel 1 mile before everything disintegrates.

HA HA HA ha, might be, i think it will be very hard to get more than 350-360 out of a 535d unless the turbos are completely changed.

But if there is anone out there that is considering doing it, please share your thoughts with us, we will be intrigered to know about it.

Recently bought a UK 2005 535d. New new versions are meant to get 10-15% better mpg and they'll need to. A weekly commute of 100 miles on small stop-start b-roads returns an mpg of 23.1. If I press-on this drops to the low 22-21's.

Motorway driving is better. With cruise on and a steady 85 mph it'll return slightly over 30 mpg (400 mile trip). My previous car - a 2002 911 - gave better mpg on the m way and only 2mpg worse on the commute!

535d is a great car to drive though; auto and all that torque is great. But with your cheap petrol prices I'd go for a V8 and 4wd.

I would get your car or iDrive settings (US/Imperial gallons) checked.

Before and after my remap on a motorway at a steady 90mph (well steadyish) I can easily get just under 40mpg (600 miles range on a tankful) over similar distances.

Ha ha ,i don't think so.
The greatest 535d remap I have seen is up to 370 bhp ( video on youtube ).

Aubeesea and ressla, I was joking .
But someone here said something similar .
Ressla, pls link me the clip .. If it pretend to have 370 HP, that car has to do 18s from 0 to 200 (kmh), not the usual 20 or 21s .

Tuner's HP aren't real . Never .
(for the 545i all tuners say 22-25 HP .. Instead they are 8-10)

Bye!
