Gotta love those B5 sounds - seems like you can't hear the 535d at all, I guess because the camera is mounted on the front bumper.

And if it's been Steve G. then any much higher powered car will get a run for it's money, if the driver is an occasional ring visitor.
I have heard first hand, that Steve is more than fast and excellent around the Ring. Saying that, he seems to be over there every few weeks.

The B5 is, quite simply, a total monster - 500 HP and about the same in lb/ft of torque (516 lb/ft, 700 NM). Nothing short of the E60 M5 will keep up with a B5, and even then with the M5's relatively wide delta in terms of the available torque compared to its HP the B5 will be a very tough act to follow. I really can't fathom why Alpina don't sell the B5's in the US. 2007 B7's are coming and will be sold by BMW dealers, but I think the B5 is the sweet spot and the one that would be most appropriate for the US market.

However he had 3 passengers with him, I was on my own. I also had R compounds, he was on normal tyres.

Thanks Olli
Unfortunately the driver wasn't an occassional ring visitor, it was Andy Bovensiepen from Alpina, who won the Nurburgring 24 hours back in 1999

Will be working on my german over the winter, I'll be sending you PM's for practice Hi steve. First of all, great driving! When i copied this link, i didnt know it was by someone from this forum.
i got some questions,.. you were in the 535d following the B5 right? And how much power does your 535d have?
Then the harder question, i have a 535d tuned to 350HP and i realize that the stepronic is a bit slow with changing from 1st to 2nd when i am trying to do a 0-60 run. Whats the best way to do it?
DSC on or off? At what revs do I shift? Use auto or DS mode? Or manual?
Whats the fastest speed u achieve on the ring with the 535d?
Ronald

absolutely love your videos. great driving skills
About 330 bhp, 680Nm torque
I hit the limiter on the main straight (this was on the BMW drivers training course) which indicated 156 if I recall correctly?
