535 Blow off valves adjustable ring?

Default 535 Blow off valves adjustable ring?

Hi everyone, I've been reading on various topics here but I came across an issue that I could not find any information so I decided to post my question..

I've been having issues with lean engine code P0174 for some time and so far have not been able to find the culprit.. While checking the boost pipes and intake boots, I noticed there is a ring with an arrow around where the Blow off valve is attached to the intake boots, I noticed the connection is not really tight and the ring can move a bit. I am not sure if this is supposed to be like this and if the arrow needs to be in a specific position or is it there to adjust something? Here is the picture I took:

No, that's to lock it in from popping off... although it shouldn't leak.... I can't remember what mine looked like inside. If you can pressurize/leak test your system you can find out if that leaks. Maybe even if you start up your car and see if you can detect the vacuum.. puff a cigar or cigarette.. or a burning piece of paper/stick. Although there is probably plenty of air to push it around from the engine.. perhaps you can detect it.

Thanks, so I moved the arrow a bit back and forth so not sure where I need to set it.. Any suggestions?

If you can move yours that freely.. I'd say move it one way, and see if the BOV pops off.. you can inspect it for more holes or garbage. If it doesn't, move it the other way. I had a hell of a time getting the back one off I think I just snapped it off Oh.. FYI I have an intake pipe, so that is now capped off.

I have been getting this code for 2 years now. First time they discovered a cracked valve cover and now the code just keeps coming back. I just went out of my CPO so now it just stays on. No noticeable performance issues. BMW smoke tested looking for leaks and replaced the normal fittings and hoses..only to have the code come back a few weeks later. At least 7 service calls for this code. Im convinced its a faulty sensor. Please post if you find an answer.

That is the locking ring and it does move. If there was an issue with that you'd get an 30ff code. Your lean code could be a few things, fuel quality, plugs, ecu tuning, etc. Before speculating what trouble shooting have you done and are you stock or modded, also what mods if.

Damn so they never figured out the issue? Iirc the only time I had this issue was when changing maps with different fuel mixtures (only be present for a short time till the dime adapts) or if I put too much E85.

Still have the issue. Posted on this thread hoping he might find a cure.. Last time the dealer started telling me about carbon buildup. I don't believe that would cause this code..Im going to take it to an indy soon and let them trouble shoot the code.
