this is an old thread that i searched for cause im having similar problem.
basically the car is vibrating while stopped, in gear (D or R). checked computer, dad has a diagnostic hook up, no issues. bought some additive from BMW to clean fuel injectors, still no difference. seems as though while the rpm's are fluctuating at an idle (btwn 550 and 650) the vibrations fluctuate as well. now i dont know if one is causing the other or if one is the result of the other. sounds like an air intake problem but checked that too and the filters and intake area is clean. thought it was motor mounts but it doesnt make sense that it would only happen at an idle. also, if i touch the gas while the brake is on the vibration goes away after the rpm's cross about 700. any suggestions???

My car has it too but my reasoning is if there is no resistance for the engine, it will vibrate. Every single engine I have ever felt, seen, heard, and driven vibrated at idle speed. Some engines are just better at hiding it. Once you get past 1000rpm on the BMW it's nice and smooth. I wouldn't worry. Plus since it only vibrates at idle that means the engine mounts are fine since the engine would shake at every speed if they weren't.

i figured the same as for the mounts. although ive experienced vibration before in other vehicles its never been this severe. its seems to be more than normal. there is actually a hum in th cabin from the vibration that is very loud at times. i guess i should just go to BMW cause the car is still under warranty anyway. any additional ideas would be appreciated...thanx

Yea if it is actually humming then I would give it a shot the worse thing that could happen is them telling you "It's normal"

My car slightly vibrates in "D" at stoplights or whenever stationary.
Put it into "R" and you really can feel the vibration shake the car and everyone in it.
BMW still doesn't know. It's been in the shop twice and I feel they're just waiting for
my warranty to run out.... hehehhe
Seriously though, anyone have these problems?

Camshaft sensor. Tell them to put it on an oscilloscope. Mine was intermittent on my E90. After the sensor was replaced, no idle issues. I think mine was bad from day 1 but it worked 95% of the time. Camshaft sensors are known wear items on the BMW inline 6 for many models over the years.

Ive got the same problem. Got one decision : u need to rise idler wheel, from 600-650rpm to 750 ... this should help. Service could do that for 5 minutes with programm method.
But i would be glad to hear real reason and find right solution.
