Has anyone on here changed their fuel filter on their 04 530i??? I am at 100,000 miles and am wondering if this is needed to be done. I am not sure it has ever been done since I am second owner.

I believe the fuel filter is located in the gas tank, and thus cannot be replaced. Don't ask me why BMW did this.

The fuel filter is in the gas tank. I am having some performance issues and have ruled everything else out. Was thinking about the fuel filter and wondering if it needs changing out. Has anyone done this???

I would go ahead and replace it now instead of risking a break-down.

FWIW, I also have a 2004 and was having some hesitation and loss of performance issues. I took my car to the dealer and they upgraded my software (for free) and it eliminated the hesitation. Also you should replace your spark plugs at least every 50K miles. I recently changed out my plugs and the increased performance was quite noticable.

Thus, you might want check your software and consider a tune up, if you haven't done so already. Good luck.
