My Ride: Numero Uno in Richmond Va 04 530 6 speed, jet black, black dakota leather, xenons, red rear reflectors, 545 front grill, cold weather package, premium package, 19 inch BBS rxII/michelins
I recently took in my 530 6 speed in to have the grills replaced and to get a reprogram as i did not have the seat memory option in my idrive september 03 build date. droped it off at Richmond BMW (Midlothian store) the other one sucks badly, anyway they kept the car for three days and my loaner was a 03 745li this car is a beast it was so fast that i could only smile every time i punched it, so i can imagine how fast a 545i is damn i am jealous. Anywho they installed the grills for free but they cost me 78.00 a piece and reprogramed all the modules and now my seats move upon unlocking the doors. Now i am not sure what version of software was installed but once i got back into the car and drove it they car is like night and day faster and quicker has anyone else experienced this after a reprogram or did i just really miss my e60

you may be right iceman, but just for kicks i drove my e34 that has been really modded out from the internals of the engine to the drive line and suspension and my e60 even seems faster than it and that has never happened even my wife drove the car yesterday and comminted on it with out me saying anything. But iceman i did miss it, isn't that funny driveing around in a 80,000 dollar beast and missing my midline 5car go figure

hi buddiec,
can you tell me a bit more on 'reprogramed all the modules and now my seats move upon unlocking the doors'? only my steering wheel moves up when i open the doors after ignition is switch off, the seats doesn't, are they suppose to be?
there is indeed a possibility that the car drives more perky after software update, our cars are so advanced in electronics that i wouldn't be surprised if they updated any enigine timing controls or systems settings, things like that. perhaps the dealer have changed the oil/filter? sometimes simple things like this can improve performance.
i always find my older e46 drives better after it comes back from the dealer for whatever reason. rollee

I too think it is just lack of seat time in the e60, but I have read posts where owners thought the engine was more rev happy after a software update.
Wow, a 745i as a loaner. I had to pretty much beg for a loaner at my dealer.
Any pics of the e34. Mods? My first car was an e34 and I still have it. The e60 is simply the better car, but when I get behind the wheel of the e34 I just find it very enjoyable to drive.

About the seats:
Your seat will not move when you shut the engine off.
Opening the drivers door or pulling out the key eill move the steering wheel up and release the side bolsters of your seat. When you lock the car you safe the positions before shutting the engine down to your key. When you then use the other key to open the car, it moves the seat, because the last position remembered by this key will be different. The seat will not move back when you turn the engine off.
So it seems your car does what it's supposed to do...

You are exactly correct iceman, only the steering wheel moves up upon shutting down the engine. The other key that belongs to my wife when she unlocks the doors the mirrors, seats, radio and radio volume, climate control, and steering wheel buttons revert to her memory settings. As far as my e34 i have no pics any more as my hard drive had to be formated, but they include as follows
Hannerhaus (built in So Cal) bal and blueprinted engine, 528 block and crank, high flow pistons and moded cam and valves. est 190-200 hp
Lowered with bav Auto springs 1 1/2 front 3/4 rear
Ultimate drilled and slotted rotors from BAV
Green stuff kevlar brakes
stainless brake lines
bilstien heavy duty shocks
16 inch BBS rk's
Dunlops 225 50 zr16
8mm ignition wires bav auto

urethane bushings everwhere they can be
Painted from jet black to BMw cosmos black (great color wish had it on e60)
still wating for the tanny and rear end to go so i can change them also
