Fastest I've done in my 550 so far is 140 mph, but I know I had plenty of power left. I heard the M5 can take a family of 4 or 5 to 200 mph (is that actually true??) but what is the expected top speed of the 550?
Not that I would take here there I'd just like to know.
Mine hits the speed limiter at an indicated 160mph (which I assume is really 155mph). It feels like it would easily go to 165 and with a long enough straight and a helpful wind just might manage 170mph. The extra 30 or so hp the 550i has would probably add 5-10mph onto the top I would think.

Well we found out on the GPS (N97 Garmin) and confirmed by a HTC Touch II GPS in the back ^^

(Max snelheid @ right bottom = max speed)

It completely rapes your sense of speed...

My 530dA E61 was getting to 240-250 when it still had the factory 218ps. After the remap to 260ps it was showing around 265km/h on the speedo on a few high speed runs in Germany. No GPS reading, so expect I was somewhere near the 250km/h mark?

So on the image above, are you saying you hit a genuine GPS measured 274km/h in a remapped 530d?!

The fastest we (you, me and Simon) hit heading down to M?nchen was 252km/h - confirmed by our TomTom NAV, albeit, Mira was sort of trembling while monitoring our speed! The speedo read something over 265km/h.

IMHO, there was still more speed left, but we got stuck in traffic.

I think that +270km/h is possible.

Yes it has 290hp and 625nm torque. I put it next to my E350 CGI coupe (loaner) and we floored it from standstill. We stopped at 180kmh and both still close, the E350 just pulling away centimeters at higher speed because of the Cx and sweet petrol but now we are sure that the number are correct as the E350 CGI coupe has 292hp afaik.
