Thumbs up

Hello,
I have a 530D from November 2003 AUT 350.000Km, that does not shift gears on time.
At stand still, everything is normal.
When I press down the gas pedal, the car accelerates with 70% of the usual speed ,reaching maximum rpm and staying there for +- 5 seconds before shifting to the next gear. This happens on all gears.

When I checked the gearbox fluid, I saw that the plastic transmission pan at the bottom was leaking around its gasket. So I fixed that with liquid-gasket and filled BMW-ATF fluid true the vacuum hole at the top left corner.

With someone in the car constantly shifting between R , N and D , I filled it with +- 4 liters of ATF, until it spilled over.

Sadly the problem has not been solved by doing this.

Does anyone have experience with this issue?

Thanks.

Have you tried to reset your gearbox?

Ignition ON (engine OFF ), and hold down the gas pedal (100%!) for 25 seconds. The gearbox will then reset its memory.

It's worth a try.

350.000 km's ?! did you drive all of them?

Also please fill in your location

I tried that, but it didn`t do anything for me .

I bought the car last week in germany with 180.000 on the display.
Then i found the dealer service book under the seat.

Wow that sucks

Didn't you check the service book before buying it?

Was the hole front repainted? You can easily see the difference between 180k and 350k kms in terms of stone chips etc.

The easiest way of checking if the KM's are the right one displayed is to give the VIN number to your BMW stealership and they can search the BMW database for warranty repairs. Also if you have a service book in hand and you doubt the mileage, check the dates. If it was serviced on a weekend, it's manipulated (I saw a E36 328iA with that some years ago in the Frankfurt area). If the dates are on workdays, call the dealerships to see if they exist and check if they did perform a service on the car.

Where are you located?

btw this is my post # 1000! woohoo!!

The whole car was been repainted. It seems to have been in an accident.

I'm not to worried about the mileage nor the damage right now.
If the transmission has a problem, the costs will be true the roof !
