co-incidently after reading here for a while, ive just spoken to Sytner here and told them of the problem with this, spoke to a tech guy after waiting 8-9 mins, he said that its not a problem, but the air circulation going through the engine via the filter, and if it isnt driven on the motorway often then it happens every so often as the engine re-calibrates itself for motorway driving, "tech guys words"
Interesting observation here about the car "adjusting". My daily drive is 5km city, followed by 23km motorway followed by 4km city (and reversed on the way home obviously). The motorway commute can sometimes be start-and-stop, but not too much. So my car does get its daily motorway run (on which I often get i up to between 130 and 150 km/h - that's 80-90mph) Yet, i have encountered this problem on my commute only 2 or 3 times. It always seems to happen most when I am doing a long drive, and often only after the car has run 30+ km on the motorway at (legal) motorway speeds.

I guess I'm having the same 'problem' I always blamed the autogearbox since it almost feels like it shifts multiple times back and forth between the 5th and 6th gear for a millisecond.
A few weeks ago I managed to reproduce it with the shifter in manual mode so that ruled out the up/down shifting idea.
It always happens when cruising at constant speeds/rpms so the particle filter idea sounds plausible to me.
