My Ride: Arrived on 12/31/09 2009 Black Sapphire Metallic 535i with Steptronic, Auburn interior, Sport and Sport Auto, Active Steering, Premium, PDC, Nav, Comfort Access. Additions include Valentine 1 Hardwire and Dinan Stage II! Graduating from a 2006 - 530i

I have a small cut in the rear bumper near the trunk. The cut is just deep enough to cause some peeling of the top layer of film on the soft bumper. I fear my local dealer will simply want to replace the bumper. Any ideas on repairs?

If it was caused by someone hitting your rear bumper and you have OEM replacement part insurance you are alright. BMW dealers have the exact codes for paint and don't have to computer match like the auto repair shops do. All bumpers come unpainted from BMW Germany . I had a damaged front fender from a piece of road junk and the paint from BMW matched perfectly. Don't get it done from the corner paint guy. Only OEM parts will match perfectly... or have the whole bumper stripped and painted.
