One of my mates got a GS 430 and hes been asking me for a lil drag race ... so i was just wondering do i stand a chance and when i do race him
i tried looking for 0-60 times but could not find anything .. but if i think about it .. i feel the GS would win since it is a V8 and all but then it has a smaller rev range than the 5er ?
So .. i know all the things to do for a race like put it in first gear, turn ac off and all .. but im not sure bout traction .. should i leave it on , press the button once ... or hold it for 3 seconds ?

GS430 is listed as 0-60mph in 5.7s. The 530i in about 6.5s - so it's more 545i territory...

But when you hit that first corner

 

The GS430 is better matched for the E39 540 and E60 545. An E60 550i would spank the GS430 but in a straight line the GS430 is likely to spank a 530. In the twisties, it's another story. I think if you want a chance, take him on a section of road with lots of tight turns and few straight lines but in the end it will also come down to the driver.

 

Its all good fun. just try it. see how close you can get on him.

 

i would probably give the nod to the gs. My partner has a 2002 s4 twin turbo six and from a toll both him in one lane and me in the other at least car too two cars ahead till about 125 130 then he started to reel me in and at about 135 i was at his rear door we then shut it down as the curves were on comming, so the 530 is no sloutch when we stopped he said damn i did not know your load was that fast i just smiled cause i new it was give it a shot

 

so what bout traction should i leave it on .. or completly turn it off ? what will give me a better start of the line ?

 

I had mine off but not sure if it helped or not, but as soon as we got onto the interstate i kinda knew we would be running the cars hard so i held down the button and turned off everything now we did about 3 runs one entering the highway i had to dig really deep to keep up as he entered the highway before i did. second run from a toll booth he got me as i was not comfortable launching the car, about a run of 100 or so but surprisingly i was right on his ass. Third and final toll booth really long straight and now where for a cop to hide, we left the booth at the same time and a perfect launch obviously story at the bump^. Now i had just got the car lowered or i would have hit the curves alot faster as i can do now. I Dont condone raceing but sometimes you just gotta let go and white nuckleyoru day good luck.
