I haven't tried to race anyone yet but my 530i has more than enough power for my daily driving in SoCal traffic :-). But seriously, I think 6.6 secs is quite good for a sedan this size. And the fuel consumption is decent.

Those may be 0-62 times, as is the commonly reported metric outside the US. It's likely much better if driven properly, but I don't think anyone (especially not a car magazine) has formally tested one.
It's nearly as light and has better gearing for acceleration than an E90 330i, which has performed as well as 5.6 seconds in some automotive press testing. My best guess is probably barely under 6 seconds if flogged.
We'll just have to wait for some tests to surface.

It says 6.7 s for 0-100 km/h on the bmw.ca website (Canada)
and 0-62,14 mph (0 - 100 km/h).
The top speeds are the hardest ones to get.
The 530i does 0-100 km/h in 6,5 and 530iA in 6,7.
The car is very fast and in practice the 530iA is the faster one.

Shrug. Not according to BMW.

Yes, there is a big differance between 0-60 mph (0 - 96,56 km/h)
and 0-62,14 mph (0 - 100 km/h).

The 530i does 0-100 km/h in 6,5 and 530iA in 6,7.

Steptronics quicker than manual? For someone who's not good with the stick perhaps...

You might want to check the stats out on this thread.
I keep hearing conflicting reports about the CDV... is it -only- the V8 cars that have the issue with this? If so, then I'd expect any data concerning 545i transmission performance to be less than optimally relevant in this thread. If the CDV -does- in fact impede all manual cars regardless of engine, then I'd say that once the playing field is leveled by the modified valve, there really shouldn't be any contest.
Again though, the point someone is trying to make is that BMW is wrong about their own cars?
Just trying to clear things up... The website does still say the manual and SMG are faster...
