Ok so my car was running perfectly, the time for an oil change came I took it to an independent BMW shop to change my oil. I get a call, the guy says my tranny fluid is leaking, its soaked, etc so I tell him to replace it, along with the sleeve, gasket and everything else thats needed.

So after I got my car back, my car wasnt upshifting in DS mode (was shifting fine in D), then on the freeway the cruise control light went on, then "Transmission Fault" light then went I went below a certain mph, the car downshifted by itself to 2nd gear and wouldnt get out of it until I turned the car on/off. Sometimes the yellow "Drive moderately " will come on also. I recently changed the gearshift assy (because it was telling me solenoid failure, etc when I took it to read the faults) but that did not help. Anyone have any idea what the problem is, the tranny is not damaged, it runs fine, shifts fine, etc. Can it be the tranny fluid or parts?

Verify the trans fluid is filled to proper level.

Trans fluid needs to be checked/filled at a specific temp range.

The car is a 04 525, no M mode.

I am getting these error codes P1747 & P0700. I am taking the car in tomorrow to get the tranny sleeves/gaskets checked to make sure its not leaking but im pretty sure thats what the problem is since its going into limp mode in 2nd gear. the gearshift change was probably not even needed

Ok guys, there was another leak in the sleeve I believe it was. My guys checked, replaced and topped off the fluid without charge and the problems are gone. As soon as I got into the car I put it in D then DS then shifted up and made a big grin when it shifted up. Drove and no problems, shifts are smooth and perfect.

My solution/cause: Another leak, needed replacement and fluid topped off
