Detuned? Yah, Right. What did BMW do? Take the 330 255hp engine, and just whack up the fuel/air ratio so it only produces 215 and alot of smoke? Why not just stick an orange up the tailpipe, that'll lower your torque. Nothing "detuned" about it, just less expensive components and corresponding output. Pretty sweet deal getting 31hp more than an 05, and just 10hp short of an 05 530. Same with the Euro 2.5L, but I'd expect more life out of the 3.0.

Maybe in the US the 06 and up 525i should've been denoted as a 530i (since it has a 3.0 anyway) and the 06 and up 530i a "535i", how's that for marketing!
