525i e60 2006 with Active steering

Getting Active steering error . have the following codes
612C AL: Control Unit Hardware fault
6145 AL: Angle sensor relation - no monitoring
CE93 : Message Steering wheel angle , 0xC8 Faulty, receiver active steering, transmitter SZL

When car is started, tries initialization, the steering wheel moves by itself to a position off centre, then error beeps on screen

So far, based on my research on this forum have tried;

1. removed steering wheel and cleaned the SXL disc (it was very dirty/sticky)
2. checked for water damage on module under front right carpet. no signs of water damage or corrosion on unit, cabling or connectors
3. the reset procedure ie steering to left / right, centre then switch off car etc

issue is still there. are there any other suggestions? was thinking of replacing module however want to see if there is anything further to check?
