Well it won't be unless there's some more shifting around.

204PS is 150kW.

From 09/07 there will be:

520d 130kW
525d 145kW
530d 170kW
535d 210kW

If you were going to "name" a 150kW diesel to fit consistently and unambiguously in the range, would YOU call it a 523d?

German logic

I suppose it makes more sense in the 1-series, 123d... (There isn't a 125d) Maybe they'll use the 's' prefix like on the X3. 520sd.

TBH there's not "long" left in the lifecycle of the e60. Just over two years??

The 2-litre twin turbo (150kW) COULD replace the detuned 3-litre in the 525d (145kW) and give some perceived gain, both to the driving/ownership experience and maybe, corporately, as movement toward an EU emissions goal.

OTOH "new new" engines might be better off being introduced in the "new new" F10.

That's possible... However, the engine has 2 cylinders missing! (Some might say 4!)

The 2 litre bi-turbo is going to be first released in the 1er coupe - in autumn this year I believe. It will therefore also come in the 1er versions.
Nothing mentioned in the German car press about 3er, 5er or X3 models with this engine, so if ordering now, IMHO not much point in waiting to see if gets introduced into the 5er.
