This is something I've been going to ask on here for a while.
Since getting my 525d new at the end of April this year, there is a noticeable 'whine' from the front area of the engine on tickover. I think it is coming from the fan belt pulley area. I did ask on a visit to the dealers about this and was told 'it's normal and part of the design' but it sounds rubbish. Anyone else have this on the new 3.0d engine and is there a known fix, I think I saw some reference on a SIB reference chart but can't find it now?
Also, I have what seems to me to be a noisy clutch release bearing. On tickover with the car in neutral without the clutch depressed a distance rumbling noise can be heard. As soon as the clutch pedal is depressed the noise disappears - isn't this classic symptoms of a noisy clutch release bearing? Again I asked on the same visit to the dealers about this and was told again 'it's normal and part of the design' but it too sounds rubbish. Anyone else have this and is there a known fix?
Any advice appreciated!
