Plenty of power tbh. Although there have been one or two times where ive wished it had just a bit more grunt. I nearly had my ass handed to me by a heavily modified peugeot 106 with 4 punks in it.

It had a dual exhaust setup and mustve had thousands of quids worth of junk fitted. Problem was that upto about 70 mph it didnt dissapear in my mirror quite as quickly as idve hoped for. Although when i dropped back due to roundabouts and then passed him again i was doing 120 whilst he was maxed out at 90 something
I think If I had to do it over I would get the 530 for the extra ponies. However, the 525 handles and rides better, in my opinion, than an E90.

The 525i is not a bottom feeder. In Europe they have 520s and I think a 520d?
It is not the owner of the 525 who has a problem it is the person who looks down on them.
Geez......... imagine the grief 1 series folks will have.
My self worth is not based on what others may think.
I am not trying to comform....

i drove about 3 530s and 3 525s before i bought the 525i. The power was not that much different. Sure it does not have the v8 power kick but then again i needed a sedated sedan, so for my needs the 525i was perfect. I chose is based on options the car had vs. the engine. With the right option, i could have chosen either a 530 or 525i. If gas was still under 3$ and wasn't rising faster than the world's population - i would have surely gotten a 545i or 550i.

525i - gets the job done. A little lack of power with few people in the car and luggage, but nothing that one can't live without.
528I - Almost as good as the 530 IMHO with only 15 less pones or so i think
530i- is a better and solid engine.
535i- TT is where it is at. nice solid engine with no lags.
545i- nice!
550- Sweet
M5- HOLLLA, CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG!
Yeah....what he said

YES DEFINITELY CAN AGREE, I LOVE THIS FORUM.

For about 2 months ive been wondering wether i should take back my 525(which i got cpo about 3 months ago) for a 550.
I can say its more of an ego thing because even tho it is a 525 ive gotten plenty of looks...Plenty of tests and i guess in my opinion with my ride i just have to work harder to turn it into a beast.

In doing so ive gotten 2 speeding tickets already and plenty of middle fingers on the road lol.

It would be nice to my ego just knowing i got plenty of MUSCLE under the hood but being the youngest out of all my brothers...ITS NICE TO KNOW I CAN KICK THEIR A$$ WHEN I HAVE TO YA KNOW!

With that said...I love my 525!!!

Would i trade it in if my dealer calls me...Depends how i feel that day.

=o) [in a nut shell...525 - GREAT POWER, more work to get out. 550 GREAT POWER TOO, less work to show off!

i haven't driven one yet but a buddy of mine has and he thinks it is "okay " on the streets and it sucks on the freeway....for the fellow 525i owners what do you think about that statement?
Yes it lacks power...when I tested the 525 and then drove the 545.....that's it...

Greetings,

I have a 2004 525i...yep it lacks power that's why I have a Porsche 997 C2S. The 525i has been getting 26.9 mpg....I spend the money I save on Streetblaze 100 octane to mix in my Porsche, no lack of power there. Thank god I have a fuel efficent BMW., it will cruise all day on the freeway at 85 mph

My bad for reviving an old post... but has anyone Turbocharged their 525i E60 yet? If so, I would love to read a post on it or see some youtube videos

I've searched and found nothing. Pros/Cons?
